The Hitchcock Difference
Female Focused Care: Having a clear mission on whom we serve helps to create that comforting environment where women feel supported and ready to let the healing begin. Last year, we treated over 300 women in our intensive American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Level 3.5 Treatment Beds. This Comprehensive service provides 24/7 support when clients need it.
Keeping the Children Together: We allow children up until the age of 12 to stay with their mothers during treatment on our campus. Most providers do not allow children at all, and the ones that do limit it to children 5 years old and younger. Our proximity to good schools, mixed with the truth that separating children from parents creates additional trauma, allows our unique approach to keep families together. Roughly 1 in 5 women admitted to the agency bring their children with them onsite helping to keep families together and removing barriers to treatment for women who desperately need it.
Medication-Assisted Treatment: We are in the minority in Northeast Ohio and allow clients in residential treatment and recovery housing access to all medication treatment options. This is a best practice nationally and we wish other providers would follow, too. Many providers buy into the myths of Medication Assisted Treatment.
Linking Recovery Housing and Treatment: We have over 40 units onsite for Recovery Housing. We believe that linking housing and treatment is the best way to provide stability for early sobriety. This evidenced-based practice is backed by research. Clients who have Recovery Housing and Treatment are 15.4 times more likely to be abstinent at 12 months after treatment.

About Hitchcock
For over 40 years, we have helped thousands of women and their families recover and become “whole” again. Our treatment approach is woman-centric, helping women who are not only dealing with the chaos of addiction, but also trauma, abuse, and mental health issues that oftentimes accompany addiction or are the root cause.
Our approach to treatment is founded on an evidence-based, integrated approach that puts the woman at the center of a full
continuum of care.
What makes Hitchcock especially unique is that it is the only residential treatment center in the region where a
woman can bring her children (up to age 12) while receiving treatment.
Our services are funded primarily by Ohio Medicaid and the associated Managed Care
Organizations (MCOs).
We also receive significant support from the local Alcohol, Drug Addiction & Mental Health
Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Cuyahoga County. The ADAMHS Board provides
funds for services that Medicaid does not cover, including our Recovery Housing
program and clients who are not insured or underinsured.
